A new part of Retail Business 101 is working with small business owners to develop a selling strategy. We have met many people over the years who had a great product or service, but did not have the ability to successfully market the business. As a result, they barely stayed afloat or survived on debt for a few years before letting the business die.

Unfortunately, many small business owners believe that logic leads to a decision and that is rarely the case! A sale evolves through a series of steps and the logic portion of the sale is merely one step. No company can consistently win sales with only one successful step.

Another fallacy that many small business owners have is about the effect of price. I know many small business owners who bid on projects and believe that price is the final determinate by the buyer. In some cases, it is true--but if you have successfully prepared the customer to understand price and value, then you are on your way to defeating what you erroneously consider to be the number one stumbling block to your success.
